Would you like to work with horses on a ranch in Australia? Then book this program! During this Working with Horses Program, you will be trained to be able to work on Australian ranches. So, you learn how to ride a horse and how to keep the cattle together on horseback. In addition, you will also learn how to shear sheep, assist with the maintenance of the farm, drive cattle on a horse or motorcycle, help in the household and of course take care of the animals.
WORKING IN AUSTRALIA DURING YOUR GAP YEAR
This Working with Horses Program starts on Thursday with four nights in the vibrant city of Brisbane. This is where all the boring paperwork is taken care of on your first day. After that, the 5-day training at Hidden Gold Homestead starts on Monday! Here you will learn the tricks of the trade and be trained to become a full-fledged employee.
After completing this training week, you will start working on an Australian horse ranch as soon as possible. There are hundreds of employers looking for hard-working backpackers. This program offers a job guarantee, so you’re guaranteed to work on a horse ranch for 4 to 12 months during your gap year.
Our local partner has already helped many backpackers find a job in Australia. Depending on the horse ranch and your experience, you can earn between $22 AUD and $32 AUD per hour. Also, your accommodation is always included. Discover real life as a farmer and learn more about the typical Aussie culture and environment!
The Jobs, and what we offer:
Job possibilities with horses: Taking care of horses, herding by horse or motorcycle, organizing tourist rides by horse, breaking horses in the saddle, working with race horses, working with traumatized horses, General animal care , farmworker.
The Work and Travel program in Australia includes:
- One-year job guarantee as a horse working by different employees. (You decide yourself when you like to work and when you like to travel and how many jobs you like to accept during the year. We have employees all over Australia so you have the total freedom to design your own working adventure and where to work and where to travel!
- Assistance before and during the full year program.
- Airport pick-up service (between 05:00 and 11:00)
- to 7 nights in a Brisbane hostel
- 4 nights accommodation at Hidden Golf trainings farm

CONDITIONS
- Between 18 and 31 years old
- Reasonable knowledge of the English language
- In possession of a driver’s license ( or of not very good Horseback riding skills )
- Physically in reasonably good condition
- Don’t mind living in a secluded area for long periods of time
